MOBFEST TANAMI 2010 - Ti Tree School, NT, September 21-23 INFORMATION
MOBFEST Tanami IS BACK! For those of you who were at MOBFEST Tanami '08 & '09 you'll know what a great experience it is for all the students who take part. Three days of fabulous workshops and concerts showcasing the great things remote Indigenous kids can achieve when given the vehicle of music and arts as a pathway for learning and education. We would like to thank all the Schools and the School Staff who participated in previous MOBFEST Tanami's. You made the festival a great success!
Now the Music Outback mob is happy to announce we are busy planning and preparing for this year's MOBFEST Tanami to take place September 21-23! For the schools that are already lined up to take part this year we have completed your student's daily program and you will shortly be receiving it by email. For those wishing to know what goes on at Mobfest please read through the information below.
Festival Dates The dates of the festival are confirmed: Tuesday 21 September - Thursday 23 September. (That's in Week 10, Term 3) In addition to the daily activities we will again be having three evening concerts including a special guests the legendary Jimmy Little as well as the Tjupi Band on Thursday night. All evening concerts are open to the general public and free of charge, but if you are interested in attending and not from the local area or associated with one of the participating schools, please register your interest to attend by email. Don't forget - Day time activities each day of the festival are for registered participants only so please get in touch if you want to be involved!
Program The Program Design for the three-day festival is complete! This year there will again be a comprehensive Cultural program running concurrently with the Music Outback program. The Cultural program will be led by Ti Tree Elders who will run workshops based on traditional cultural activities and contemporary cultural arts. Story telling and sand stories, body painting, art & the making of artefacts will be on the daily menu. Ceramics work and carving of traditional and contemporary instruments will also be included. We are once again honoured and very excited about the Elders involvement in this year's MOBFEST and we are looking forward to their ever growing involvement in the festival. We are also very pleased to announce that our friends at Northern Territory Music School will be involved once again with the provision of Music Technology workshops.
Music Outback Workshops on offer during the daily MOBFEST program will include: Songwriting
Healthy Lifestyle and Careers Awareness There will be special sessions and song-writing and recording based on healthy lifestyle messages inspired with the help of special guest Jimmy Little.
Cost Thanks to the generous support of our major funding body the Dept. of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, there is NO COST to take part in MOBFEST Tanami '10 except the cost of catering per head and your transport to Ti Tree.
Travel to Ti Tree Participating Schools should arrive at the festival Monday late afternoon to set up camp and be ready for an early start on Tuesday. All Schools should depart the festival Friday morning. The Dept of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations can assist with transport and accommodation costs for Schools and family members travelling to Ti Tree to attend Mobfest. Please contact your local DEEWR office for more information.
Catering Kunkas Can Cook will once again be catering for student's and staff at this years MOBFEST. Catering will be available from Supper time Monday until Breakfast on Friday. Knowing advance numbers is critical for Kunkas to prepare their catering, so please make sure you keep us updated with any changes in student numbers attending from your school. Early Registration Early registration for Mobfest Tanami 2010 has now closed. If you are not registered and wish to attend the festival please contact us immediately by email or telephone.
